Leslie Moore is a printmaker, a pen-and-ink artist, and animal lover. Relief printmaking is the opposite of drawing. In printmaking, she carves out what she doesn't want in the final image; in drawing, she ink ins what she does want. The dichotomy between these two art forms builds creative energy. Most of her linocuts are reduction prints in which she uses one block to print multiple colors, carving a bit more out of the block between each color. It’s called kamikaze printmaking, because the block is carved down to almost nothing by the end of the print run - no backtracking or do-overs.
