Oil Paintings
It’s no secret that the natural beauty of midcoast Maine is a never ending source of inspiration for artists. Change is constant. Every day—every time of day—the woods, lakes, and fields take on a different mantel. Startling and dramatic, or subtle and pensive, compositions tend to suggest themselves. This visual cornucopia has inspired many of my recent small paintings.
Oil with Mixed Media
My mixed media oil paintings often portray animals, and might be described as representational—but with a twist. I often incorporate elements of collage for color, texture, or symbolic meaning. Images of human-made items and natural forms (both animate and inanimate), are reconfigured and integrated with careful brushwork to form both subject and background.
